Open Science Program Scientist at NASA HQ.
Some things I love: data, code, compute, AI, art, & open science.

All opinions here are my own.
A great point about how support for open source has outsized impacts.
Thank NASA for this. This work was supported by NASA ADAP grant 80NSSC21K1421. It resulted directly from our astronomical data processing needs.

Every major company in the world uses Python extensively, has this problem, and did not solve it.

NASA funded scientists did.

“One young man sobbed when a guard pushed him to the floor. He said, ‘I’m not a gang member. I’m gay. I’m a barber.’ I believed him. *** He “began to whimper,” as his head was roughly shaved, “folding his hands in prayer as his hair fell.” He “asked for his mother & cried as he was slapped again.”

Anyone else have trouble sleeping the night before an early flight?🤔
Last night - set alarm 5:40am & ordered 6:15 ride pickup
6:09 - woke up
6:16 - in ride
Apparently it only takes me 7 min to shower & get out the door.
I'm not sure why i've been waking up 30 min before my flight all these years.😂

Until peer review is meaningfully modernized, this will keep happening. Why do for-profit publishers call it the 'gold standard' and claim to be gatekeepers—while relying on unpaid editors and reviewers? 🤔#openscience www.science.org/content/arti...
