Good news! Bell's outage page is back up.

Bad news: it's a lie.

Plus the odd use of "zip code".

Ah! Very interesting. I assume they’re from this:

Gotta say, the headline "FOR THE GOOD OF ONTARIO. FOR THE GOOD OF CANADA." goes pretty hard

Interesting - Toronto bike share just added a new vehicle type to the API: "CHLOE", which appears to be an e-scooter.

Just a bug... or a possible pilot program incoming soon?

This hits the nail on the head for me. I'm a potential OLP voter. Barring a miracle, I'm not a potential Crombie voter.

So I take it warmington is super fun at parties right

I eventually got 300 pages of contracts/amendments with fairly minor redactions. A bunch of interesting stuff in there; notably that they get paid a redacted number of dollars for every dead e-bike they drop off at a charging station (with no requirement that the charging station actually works) 1/2
November 19, 2024 at 9:42 PM
Toronto's Wellesley Station bike share docks over the last month:
- over half full of dead e-bikes for the whole month
- a charging station that charged a whole *3* bikes in a month

I would love if the TPA would stop stalling my freedom of information requests on bullshit grounds, but alas.

Not much, as far as the lobbyist registry says. A few texts to a staffer followed up with a meeting in January.

Looks like the proposal is for a 60:40 ratio of of affordable vs. market-rate units (as of 2023).
February 16, 2024 at 10:07 AM
Found it.

Maybe I didn't give the guy quite enough credit. Unless the 2022 Star article I found is out of date (likely) they were trying to build about 1500 units completely non-profit there.

That's actually pretty awesome? Never imagined I'd be rooting for Saunders, but here we are.

Something really does seem to have spooked the TTC with their latest round of slow orders.

Vaughan to Highway 407 - a section of the subway that only opened in 2017! - is somehow already in need of disruptive daily track work.

Fire Rick Leary.

Went to go check out the new Portlands bridge on my new bike!

Plus: new mouth of the Don river filling up nicely; and madlad kite foilers in the freezing water at Cherry beach.

This empty alert from a satire transit agency’s website is just way too on point. 10/10, amazing work.

Also, every link on this page 404s.

The only super clear example that I can find for Dentonia (other than their ~once monthly broken bike pickup) is here, where 6 mechanical bikes got added.

(If I had to guess I would say they don't actively rebalance bikes there unless the station is empty or if they have to grab a broken bike)
January 5, 2024 at 7:44 PM
And here's them taking disabled bikes (broken bikes of any kind, or dead e-bikes) being taken away (Wellesley Station).

But yeah, usually when there's a big spike up or down in bike availability - especially at night - it means someone came around in a truck and rebalanced them.
January 5, 2024 at 7:42 PM
Not dumb at all! So there's isn't anything in the data that would directly indicate that, but the pattern on the graph is fairly recognizable. Here's an example from my local station of bikes being redistributed to the station:
January 5, 2024 at 7:40 PM
Yeah, it looks like a pretty bad station. Only 227 trips started there in the last few months.

In the last month it's about the 15th worst station for total bike availability ("total" as in: number of bikes available multiplied how long each one is available for). It often had an e-bike though!

"In statements on Wednesday, the City of Toronto says it remains committed to the project designed to give TTC streetcars the right of way"
November 30, 2023 at 7:10 AM
Question for anyone who's submitted a freedom of information request to the city of Toronto:

I entered a few paragraphs for "Records Requested". The confirmation page showed my request all jammed onto one line.
Did the system actually strip out the paragraphs when I submitted it?

surely he misspoke here right
November 27, 2023 at 7:32 PM
Oh my god it's so much worse than I thought.

Bike share Toronto doesn't own 600 e-bikes - we own 1300.

There are... 62 ebikes available right now (E-Fit: older model, light blue; E-Fit G5: newer model, darker blue).

This slide from the meeting with the TPA board today seems slightly dishonest.
