Recently I delivered these two to The Haven Parrot Rescue for rehoming. I ended up fostering them for over four months which is WAY longer than usual, but it was necessary.

The house feels so different without them. It’s quieter and there’s a lot less sass in the air. Missing them loads 🪶

Cockatiel landed on a family’s balcony in East London last week. They named her Orange. No owner has come forward.

~3 months old and not too tame or too skittish. She’s off to an independent rehomer today for more care, attention, and (hopefully) a new home with cockatiel friends v soon! 🪶

Sponge enjoying a spray shower, captured in this most excellent photo. I feel this needs to be turned into a super cute drawing?! 🪶

Lemon and Sponge update: Lemon has laid 15 (!!) eggs, so we had to separate with a partition in the cage. I’d been watching Sponge watching Lemon struggle to fit them all underneath her, and only just realised he probs wanted to help. Finally gave him an egg and LOOK HOW PROUD HE IS 😭 🪶

If anyone has a spare ticket to Evanescence @ Metro Theatre in Sydney, please hmu 😭
I was 1229th in the queue and tickets sold out way ahead of me. I was ready to take my second trip to the other end of the world just to see them live again. 😭

One of my biggest regrets is not honouring my younger self by trying for audience tickets to the Whose Line Is It Anyway? revival. Hoping it gets renewed so I can try for a ticket 😭.

I don’t usually keep my rescues for long, but I’ve still got Sponge and Lemon. Sponge has ongoing health issues, and I can’t in good conscience pass them along for rehoming until things are resolved.

Sadly, it’s not looking great. The tests are inconclusive and he’s not improving 😭 🪶

There Is No Such Thing As A ‘Warning’ Shot
Warning shots but fired at people but it's to prevent panic but also anyone who is hit is retroactively Hamas

Meet Prince. We took him in when his owner could no longer manage his growing lump. He was with us for 6 sweet days: tame, confident & gentle. We’d hoped it was just a lipoma, as budgies are so prone to them - but once we looked into it, it was clearly something far worse.

We miss you, Prince 🪶

Currently in my care: the cutest pair of cockatiels. Sponge (right) was found a week after Lemon, both in East London. They’ve been together for a week and are certified besties.

Lemon incessantly demands crest preens. Sponge obliges and gets absolutely nothing in return. Justice 4 Sponge 🪶

Cockatiel people, how do you get anything done with these chaos gremlins around? Are they always so angy/sassy?

This cutie pie was found in East London a couple of weeks ago. No owner has come forward, so I’ll be passing her on for rehoming this weekend 🪶

Dear conure people, how do you get anything done? Are they all 10/10 clingy???

Currently IMC, found in Finsbury Park, London on Sunday 29th June. Posted everywhere iso owner but nobody has come forward yet. Wishing I could find them so I can have my personal space back. 🪶

Currently IMC is bby budgie!

Saw a FB post in a local group- she’d been seen in the Olympic Park. A lovely passerby was beside her calling around for help & said birb was in the exact same spot 12 hours earlier 😭. Thankfully she was easy to catch.

Not tame, but the top of my head is her new home 🪶

Why have a (desperately needed) restful bank holiday weekend when you can take on a Blue Tit fledgling who needs to be fed every 20 minutes from 6am - 10pm? 🪶

All of our favorite foods are totally dead.
They cannot procreate in little food beds.
We'll eat them up
And turn them into stuff.
And we'll cry over their graves.
But you can't cry enough.
When you miss someone you love,
You can't cry enough.

Stray Quaker is still in my care awaiting transport to birb charity. He’s untame but loves towel burrito time + head kisses. He’s my only birb & I feel terrible for how lonely & bored he is. Hmu if you’re in London/surrounding & have space for another quaker. He’s PBFD negative and confirmed male. 🪶

Shoutout to the guy riding an e-bike down Cambridge Heath Road with a speaker around his neck, blasting Goodbye My Lover by James Blunt. Hope you’re okay.

Currently in my care is the most adorable parrot EVER, a blue Quaker! She was found grounded in a playground in North London.

We’re still iso the owner and in the meantime I’ve sent off her PBFD test. As she’s not tame, she’ll be best suited to an aviary with other Quakers (if owner is not found) 🪶

I’m on the other side of what was briefly my dream come true. I fostered a stray pineapple conure for a short time. She’s a velcro birb. I’ve always wanted a super tame birb, and she made that dream a reality.

She’s now in her wonderful new home with loving humans and other conure friends 🪶

UK viewers - my wife @jeaniefinlay.com's documentary YOUR FAT FRIEND, about the brilliant @yrfatfriend.bsky.social screens on BBC4 next Tuesday night as part of the Storyville strand, and then on the iPlayer afterwards. It's a great, funny, moving film - don't miss it.

Londoners do not understand how expensive our transport is compared to equivalent cities, and how much of it is paid through fares vs taxes.

That it is so much worse elsewhere in the UK (I know, I’m from Leeds!) should not blind us to far we still need to go here in London.

I died inside when these friendly crimson rosellas came right up to me for treats. I had only seen them from a distance until this point. They are strikingly beautiful up close. I miss them😭

This was at the Stanwell Tops Lookout (as a huge storm pulled in, otherwise I’d have stayed there forever) 🪶
