Damn perverts ruining my fantasy of pausing time and being able to do all the reading/writing/listening/mixing I never get round to.

I have now been working in the EFL world for 23 years, as a teacher, trainer, manager, a number of other things too. Two years off a quarter of a century. 5/5

(Jamie did ok, he formed the band Klaxons with two London friends in 2005.)

The 2002 stay lasted three months, I cannot think of a better three months in my life, but then I ran out of money and needed to go back to England. Disaster! But I had met a few English teachers in Prague and it kind of seemed like something I could do. So I signed up for a one-month CertTESOL. 4/

It was something like the best time ever, I had been miserable in Southampton and everything was better in Prague. I did go back after two weeks, but started plotting my escape, and was back there the next year. Not with a job or anything, just staying in the same hostel. 3/

When he handed them back he gave Jamie an odd look - it turned out he had brought his girlfriend's passport and now there was no way to get back into the UK. It took two weeks before she managed to find the thing and send it over, and for that time we lived at The Clown & Bard in Prague... 2/

My best friend at high school lived near Pinvin. PJ Proby lives there now. Odd place.

Their expectation that people constantly lie also seems to indicate that they are compulsive liars themselves

Just baffles me that they think this is a contribution adding to the world.

Actually it's more like "wish you birthday happiness" but you get the idea.

The Chinese version doesn't have the personalisation aspect, the lyrics are:

Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you

And a few years later he looks like Francis Rossi

Thinking particularly about the time I found this video - and not just due to Karl's incredible hair.

Being an Underworld fan has been quite a journey.

A band in the sixties could easily go from surf rock to folk to Merseybeat to garage rock to psychedelia to blues rock to country rock to hard rock and nobody would so much as raise an eyebrow.

I wonder if he actually watched the show and whether he was aware that he was a running joke on it. Doesn't seem like his sort of humour tbh.

A friend worked in HMV when The Millennium Prayer was out, I asked him who was buying it and he said they just looked like regular people you'd see on the street (he said this with a look of blank dread and horror)

Of course when he dies we can all talk about you-know-what.

I don't know if I can forgive him for his three Xmas number ones.
November 21, 2025 at 8:25 PM
My introduction to him was his single with The Young Ones, one of the first records I owned.
