Climate change shifts the timing of maple sap flows and sugaring season earlier. The Amish man who sold me bottlecaps this morning said 25 years ago, no one in this area would have thought about tapping before the first week of March. Cool when papers corroborate observations from our own backyards!

The biggest sugar maple on the property where I rent. I love this tree immensely.
A large deciduous tree (sugar maple) with sprawling bare branches on a wooded hillside in late winter. The sky is the pale blue of early evening and the tree has a silver sap collecting bucket on its dark lower trunk.
