This was the Great Ocean Road, at Bell's Beach, on a trip to Australia, during their winter. It's hard to see here, but at the right edge of the photo is the edge of a second rainbow.

These are from inside my aunt & uncle's former house in Eldorado National Forest, CA, a little more than 2 years after a major fire burned through. The power went out from the storm, so a fireplace and lots of blankets kept us cozy. I took these photos from where I slept.

Australia, Great Barrier Reef, Heron Island. 1 worst pic, 1 worst bird. The prolific banded rails had no qualms about eating from the table. This one decided my chocolate shake was the best thing ever. I don't think it read the section about rails in the bird book right next to it.

For weeks, this little guy tried to chase off his reflection. Sometimes, he was the one chased off. 😄
I took many pictures of him. These are the worst I could find, although, I should have a blurry one of him in flight somewhere. He entertained me, no end.

Thanksgiving weekend (last weekend of November for those not in the US), I went on a whale watching charter with my family. Of all the times I've gone, I've never seen so many whales in one trip. This trip was all humpbacks.

Thanksgiving weekend (last weekend of November for those not in the US), I went on a whale watching charter with my family. Of all the times I've gone, I've never seen so many whales in one trip. This trip was all humpbacks.

*That's* what I should have named my Black Panther! - T'Challa. I was trying to name him something less obvious, but when I saw how sleek he was in the sun as a kitten, his name was sealed.
FYI, he was from the CDS. He and his sister are completely indoor now (except when Panther escapes).

I thought of this "eye" (forward thruster - circles to the left of the nose cone) on Endeavor when I saw the nebula photo. I took these photos in 2012, shortly after we saw the shuttle orbiter be guided to its new home in LA.

A photo I took of Morro Bay, CA, in 2005, from Black "Mountain". I purposely included the PG&E plant on the right, due to an emotional connection. We had the beach (to the right of the rock) to ourselves when we were in town for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Seeing tourists is still culture shock.
