i don’t think that shoplifting is a preferable choice, but if it’s between that and not eating or your kids not eating then i can understand why it would become an option - because the problem is largely poverty and a solution requires compassion for all

it’s not like there are many independent grocers anymore, people shoplifting food and baby formula aren’t depriving anyone of wages
