My auntie's house in the 70's, Gwendoline St, Liverpool.
She painted it herself with help from my uncle & dad.
It was known locally as the 'flower power house'. She also set up a boutique from inside the house which was famous globally. 🌸🌼

My grandad died on 5th Nov 1979, 2 weeks before I was born. He was an immigrant from Bengal and came to the UK after serving in the Merchant Navy.
He set up a lot of businesses & became a well respected member of the Toxteth community. 🖤

Sadly didn't get to peek inside but just standing outside Peter Roberts vault felt eerie enough. He died in 1828.

Joseph William Leyland, a baby, buried at Toxteth Park Cemetery in 1863.
His father Joseph is listed as a naturalist. (Is it me or has the second 'A' in 'naturalist been corrected?)
Caroline, is also buried here. But no Joseph Sr. Maybe he's still alive! 🪦🖤

I love the Victorian tradition of writing every known fact about the deceased on their gravestone.
This one from Toxteth Park Cemetery is no exception.

I remember finding this stone for the first time, I've never seen one like it. But I suspect there may be a few out there!

This grave is in St Aidan's churchyard in Billinge.
I chatted with one of the staff at the church - he said the skull motif was thought to mark the grave out as the inhabitant having had cholera- it was a way to keep people away from it in case there were any germs lingering!

I found this grave in St John's the Divine in Pemberton.
The fresh gold lettering was for Mildred Ivy - interred in 1990. Before her, the last family member was buried in the plot was 1928! Sadly, a child was also buried that same day with his mother, Daisy. 🪦
