Happy Festivus everyone for those who celebrate, and for those who don't, happy Christmas to you and yours.

Thank you so much for your company through the year - I suspect we have all kept each other sane and my god, have we needed it.

❤️ 🎄 ❤️

One thing I love about having native plants on the verge is that it creates a habitat. The djiti djiti birds have made their nest 🪺 of woven spiderwebs 🕸️ right outside my window. The leaf litter and plants brought insects, spiders, lizards and birds.

An Australian perspective- you arrive home to find flower blossoms from trees clipped off and strewn about. Success! The black cockatoo - threatened species - has been snacking at your place on plants you nurtured and planted. Can gardening be a window to caring for country? #GardeningAu #Gardening

Today is a good day for Australians to be smug about gun bans, compulsory voting, preferential voting, an independent AEC, an independent judiciary, democratically-regulated speech and a cultural default to “yeah, nah” when people turn cooker. #auspol

Spring is nearly here and it’s the middle of the Djilba season. I can see pink flowers popping up and the warm days and cool nights are dominating- The magpies are stopping by to tell me they will swoop intruders (luckily we are friends 😮‍💨)

National Sorry Day is today. It's a day for remembering the Stolen Generations and reflecting on the impacts of Gov’t decisions on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Saying sorry isn’t the end of reconciliation, it’s the start, and it should mean we do better.

Remember: compulsory voting isn’t about forcing you to vote - it’s about forcing the government to make sure a ballot gets into EVERY CITIZEN’S HAND. That’s why Australia is the strongest democracy on earth - because every corner, every community and every person is #auspol, and auspol is us. 🇦🇺
Vote early as some locations run out of #democracysausage later. Glad that voting is both accessible and compulsory here - the USA could learn a lesson. #ausvotes25 #auspol25
