The Democratic Party is out there trying to pick the perfect candidate like they look up the perfect coffee-maker on wirecutter. If they have this doodad and that price point, they’re a winner.

That’s not how politics works. It’s a game we play together, not catalogue shopping.

I love the color scheme on this, and the way you’ve incorporated printed text in the background!

I’ve been in two ungraded grad classes (both where I entered my own grades). I liked it a lot, though I definitely still had a lot of embedded grade anxiety that made the process challenging. The prof of the classes is a big fan of Ungrading (edited by Susan D Blum)

The automatic cotton gin increased the speed of cotton production — which resulted in worse conditions for enslaved people. Slaveowners pushed them harder and tortured them more to reach higher quotas. (Angela Lakwete, Inventing the Cotton Gin) (3/3)

Things like dishwashers, laundry machines, vacuum cleaners — all of these things did increase the speed of domestic labor. But that didn’t result in more time for women — because the expectation of the what a “clean” house looked like went up (Ruth Cowan, More Work for Mother) (2/3)
