Winterizing has begun... which feels a bit odd considering this week will be mid to upper 30s.
Bathroom painted... new smoke/carbon monoxide detector installed. Bathroom fans and weather stripping up next.
Is ok to admit that I'm so tired of doing it all on my own? Satisfying but tiring.

Emily Carr travelled by train and steamer to Nootka Island from her home in Victoria BC in 1929. There, she sketched the white church.
I love Emily Carr and the work she did to show indigenous culture in the Pacific Northwest.

Started art class tonight and I'm ridiculously happy! The basics... just the kind of class I needed. 6 weeks and I already want it to be longer! It was about learning tone and value in black and white... dying for the weekend now so I can practice this over and over to get it the way I want haha

Tuluum gave one a sense of being able to picture yourself actually of living in the space.
Coba... was less accessible, we had to take the Mayan Uber into the jungle to see it. Coba gave the feeling of seeing it just after discovery...

I did not know that the pyramid at Chichen Itza....
Is actually 3 pyramids... each one built over the previous one.
Is built over top of a cenote.
And was built with acoustics that allow a speaker to project... but also makes the sound of the national bird...

It's like nature beginning a canvas. All the colours turning to brown in random patterns with the finished reveal in spring after the snow melts and the leaves long returned to the earth.
Always beautiful.
Always perfect.

Here... I had to be careful. If any of those dressed in period costumes that thought I had taken a picture of them they would request payment. The price skyrockets if you don't pre-negotiate.
