Teachers far more likely than students to say phone rules are followed
Findings from the latest DfE behaviour survey also indicate that leaders, educators and pupils disagree about the extent to which their school is ‘calm and orderly’

Here's everything you need to know about this morning's inflation data 🧵⤵️
UK CPI inflation begins its long march back to 2%, falling from 3.8% in September to 3.6% in October. This is a welcome decrease but the BoE says it will be a long path down and families are still struggling with the high cost of living. The Chancellor shd act at the Budget. Thread to follow...

“child hunger is a real concern. There is only so long schools can keep swallowing the increases. For many, putting up the cost of meals is now the only option.”

What I wrote on Sunday, and in today's FT, here it is. If Labour takes SEND families' rights away, this may well be what we have to face, with no defences

Great piece from @moremorrow.bsky.social on FED futures report mapping a way forward for our fragmented education system. Moving past an outdated compliance model & building a system based on the principles of inclusion, workforce & partnership.

Budgets are already very tight. Finding the 1% on top of the shortfall to NI, & other inflationary pressures will inevitably see schools making further cuts.

Wow: Harris Federation, England's 2nd-largest academy chain "trying to make 45 teachers redundant despite reserves of £21m" and highest-paid CEO on more than £500k, NASUWT says in press release.Got wind of a little of this last week. Harris also pays sector-outlier sals to senior managers generally.

Moving Bridget Phillipson would be a blow to teachers and leaders. She gets it. So many we have had in the past just didn’t. Her challenges are related to having no resource to play with and being forced to listen to entitled edu-oligarchs. We know what that toxic combo feels like!
Sunday Times reporting Bridget Phillipson is set to go in a reshuffle. I continue to think this would be a mistake.

BP knows the sector well. Education is so prone to fads and superficial thinking that can lead to disastrous policy. It would be easy for any new SoS to fall into that trap.
