Tired gamer, card-carrying otaku. Co-host/editor of Baka Gaijin Show. Co-founder of Baka Gaijin Studio (Killer Konnect: New Blood). Do not follow if you're under 18.
I have the Superman: Birthright compact already. Solid book far as I've read, and I can't argue the quality and amount of material for $10. Planning on a few more compacts in the near future, likely at least Batman: Court of Owls and DC: The New Frontier.

After that, I'm getting TF Compendium.

162.) COMPLETE - The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy (Comedy route, all endings)

Yep, that was certainly the comedy route.

Really funny, but a bit spread out for how many permutations it has.

Still kinda flabbergasted that Doraemon movies are as consistent as they are. Not only in terms of storytelling (the vast majority are good), but in terms of animation.

I'm so used to hearing horror stories about anime production and missed deadlines. So these movies looking as good as they do-

161.) COMPLETE - The Satellite Girl and Milk Cow

Words fail me.

It's not *good*, but it's so batshit absurd and earnest with everything it does. It's so goddamn funny, please watch this movie.
November 11, 2025 at 4:23 AM
This is another movie I can say is an easy recommendation for anyone interested in Doraemon. The core story really simple and effective, so it can easily connect with someone even if they have no idea what Doraemon is.

Also Claire is utterly adorable, she's an absolute gem.

160.) COMPLETE - Doraemon: Nobita's Art World Tales

It doesn't matter if a drawing is skillful. All that matters is that it's made with the love of something only you can make.
November 10, 2025 at 5:02 AM
Um excuse you Claire, that localization is outdated, we call it Altria now apparently.
November 10, 2025 at 3:19 AM
Watching the new Doraemon movie, "Nobita's Art World Tales".

Claire having a "Victorian child eating a Dorito" reaction to the modern world is great.

Remembered I still have a couple of Sailor Moon fansub VHS tapes I found at Goodwill that I need to get digitized. Was going through boxes and found them again.

Still no clue which group(s) these are from.

159.) COMPLETE - Doraemon: Nobita's New Dinosaur

As a rare third-take on a classic Doraemon concept (that being Nobita's Dinosaur), this proves unique for using the basic premise to craft a mostly original story.

The final result is damn good. Looks gorgeous, is big in scale, but simple at heart.

NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE

Man I haven't looked at these old gameplay stats in years.

Weirdly, I actually played video games *less* when I was younger compared to now.

157.) COMPLETE - Kaette Kita Doraemon

A short film adapting a classic Doraemon manga story, and oddly one that was also adapted in Stand By Me Doraemon.

Still a really good story, and worth watching on its own as a cute, heartwarming little tale touching on what Doraemon means to Nobita.

156.) COMPLETE - Tenchi Muyo! Midsummer's Eve (rewatch)

While fun, it's by far the weakest of the Tenchi movies. Has some very pretty animation, and I quite like Mayuka's interactions with the main cast, but the central conflict is woefully underdeveloped and Yuzuha lacks any weight as a villain.

155.) COMPLETE - The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy (S.F. route, all endings)

I have my issues and nitpicks regarding this one, but it shakes out to be really good overall. Kind of a marvel of planning that this connects to other routes so well.

154.) COMPLETE - Sinners

It's no small wonder this movie did so well. It's cool as shit.

Fantastic use of the 1930s American South setting for both thematic and musical resonance, excellent storytelling and phenomenal score and music. Really goddamn good shit.

This has the makings of a classic.

153.) COMPLETE - The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy (Mystery route, all endings)

Moreso a component of S.F. in the grander scheme of things, but a very good route that ties together a ton of elements from all across the 2nd myth arc of this game. Lot of time skipping, though.

Wasabi Mizuta is the new voice of Monokuma in Danganronpa 2x2.

Fitting since her and Nobuyo Oyama (Monokuma's first voice) are the new and old voices of Doraemon, respectively.

Also, now I'm a Doraemon fan, so I get to have the proper response of "why is Doraemon a bloodthirsty psychopath" lmao

152.) COMPLETE - The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy (Box of Calamity route, all endings)

There's a ton I love in this route, and it has strong banter and great ideas, but by the time you reach the "true" ending, it leaves a bit to be desired. Still quite good, but a victim of time restraints.
October 22, 2025 at 6:49 PM
151.) COMPLETE - SteamWorld Dig 2

While it ends fairly abruptly, it's a noted improvement mechanically and in terms of depth from the original Dig. Really fun time, a lot closer to a proper Metroidvania than the first game.
October 22, 2025 at 4:28 AM
150.) COMPLETE - Event Horizon (rewatch)

Honestly, better than I remember it being. A bit goofy and not every performance is perfect, but it's got amazing set design and some really freaky, hellish imagery that sells the terror of what's happening onscreen.

Cooper is best character.
October 22, 2025 at 2:52 AM
149.) COMPLETE - Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved

God this was so good. Super cute, very emotional, and remarkably more epic than I was expecting. Definitely see why KyoAni made this one a movie.

Funny as fuck playing Halo Infinite with Xbox message requests on these days because people will get so unbelievably tilted and send you the angriest toxic messages mid-match like it's still 2008.

148.) COMPLETE - Superliminal (replay)
