A fiery Canadian standing in support of empathy, justice, and democracy everywhere.

Let's do some rabble-rousing and political sh*t-posting! Elbows up!
Congratulations to New York City on electing your new mayor. This Canadian stayed up late watching the results of the NYC Mayoral Election roll in online with the rest of you. I hope that he serves you well and fights the good fight for you and your city.

Best wishes from Canada!

A thought. Can we, both the natives of Scotland and those of us who were scattered across the world by exploitation and the Highland Clearances, just collectively disown Trump? Because I don't don't know if my clan is related to his mother's but I don't like thinking of him as Scottish at all.

I do want to say thank you to all of the Aussies in my comments who have helped me learn about their politics on the fly. I'd never seen anything about Australian politics before last night, but the state of the world made me invested. So thank you all very much for the education.

Love from Canada.

So, of course as I watch the Australian elections, I'm looking at three different sources to see what's going on, so I'm seeing different maps showing me how the voting is laid out across ridings and regions.

Still, this is a LOT of red! (red and green are sort of on the same side right?)

Just woke up (eventually had to go to bed about six hours ago) and the first thing I did was check on the Australian elections. Holy sh*t, Australia! You're getting a Labour government, but you're as close to a majority now as the Libs got for us.

Way to go Australia! Applause from Canada.

So, my initial (EARLY) impression based on these tiny little red specks here is that, very much like Canada, the left wing voters in Australia tend to congregate in cities and that's where essentially all of their seats are going to come from.

Does that generally sound about right?

Alright, well, colours on maps are happening. They're just popping out of nowhere as I watch the results begin to trickle in for the Australian elections. It's still super early, though, and I know this isn't really representative of the final result.

Alright, so the Aussies have spoken and this Canadian has heard you loud and clear. The Democracy Sausage is, of course, a fantastic idea. Yet, here are the proposed alternatives.

Democracy Poutine (we're really known for poutine aren't we?)

and...

Democracy Beaver Tails!

Which is best?

So, I keep hearing about the Democracy Sausage.

We don't have anything like this, but over in Australia, it's apparently traditional to turn Election Day into a nationwide barbecue.

...I am in favour of this idea. Why is this not a thing in Canada? I am now very upset. Share the sausage!!

🤣

Absolutely beautiful choice of words, Australia.

Good luck to Albo (yes, I did look him up), may his party (which sounds like our Liberal/NDP parties) win many, many votes.

And do try to avoid the fascists, alright? They have a habit of bringing down elections if you let them.

Well, I definitely see a sign that is perfectly on the nose in this crowd.

Yes, by the definition of the word treason, Trump is a traitor.

This here is the face of the Maple MAGA in Canada.

She eagerly bent the knee and kissed the ring.

She is now trying to violate treaties with the First Nations and destroy Alberta with her separatist ideals.

Danielle Smith needs to be dragged out of office.

Here's a map of the #CanadianElections as they stand this morning at about half past 7, Mountain Time.

The Liberals have declared victory, and while that's true enough, the sheer amount of blue in rural nowhere and rich oil and tourism land really bothers me.

Blue does NOT make me feel safe.

To all of the American politicians out there, I must say this.

With your country falling, you need champions. Champions that the people will love and rally around. Be powerful. Be strong. Make yourselves heard.

But when the dust settles and the battle is won. Be like this wonderful human being.

Almost 14 years ago, Canada lost one of (I believe) one of the brightest lights in politics. I met Jack Layton when I was in high school and hoped he would be my prime minister. But cancer took him from us. I'd have loved to see a Layton-Carney coalition.

Rest in Peace, Jack. You are sorely missed.

Pretty sure that Cristoforo Colombo didn't need any help destroying his own reputation, considering how many people died as a result of his actions. He might have been considered a big deal five hundred years ago, but these days, he's just a sour taste in the mouth.

It's Monday morning and the polls are open coast to coast. I voted as part of the advance polls last week here in Edmonton Centre, but we've got one more day to show up in force and build the future WE want to see in Canada.
