Louisiana is getting older. Since 1980 the percentage of our population 65 or older has increased to 17.7%. Our latest report looks at this trend across the state and compares the growth of our senior population to the decrease in our kids population.

#NationalSeniorCitizensDay Louisiana's 65+ population rose from 12.4% in 2012 to 16.0% in 2022. 84% of LA parishes are "aged" (14% to 20.9% 65+) and 6.3% are "super-aged" (21% or more 65+).
