Louisiana is getting older. Since 1980 the percentage of our population 65 or older has increased to 17.7%. Our latest report looks at this trend across the state and compares the growth of our senior population to the decrease in our kids population.

Using the 2023 ACS data, the Center for Economic and Business Research at LSUS studied rental housing affordability and availability in Louisiana. We estimate the Shreveport-Bossier area has only 59 affordable rental units per 100 ELI renter households.
