They/them, officially old, worked in dev since ‘97, look inspired by “Gimli, but fabulous?”

My handle is a bad joke. Avatar AI generated (obvs), but looks a lot like me. Yes, I look like Santa. If kids ask me, I tell them I'm his younger brother.
For some reason, I've been drawn to various mushroom subreddits. I'm shocked how many people first questsion are 1) Can I eat this? and 2) My dog ate this, is that OK?

First is natural, mushrooms are yummy. But the second? Been a dog owner most of my life, never had this happen.

Prepping for the Pittsburgh pride march tomorrow. I had to hit 2 stores to get the green. Still working on my painting skills but I'm ever so slowly getting better.

Today is my graduation from IU. After taking a “gap year” in 1994/1995, I enrolled in IUs MS in Information technology Management and completed my degree in feb.

The modern equivalent of burning down the Library of Alexandria.

If the Internet Archive is gone, so goes much of our culture, art, digital history, and the largest digital preservation archive in the world. It is an unacceptable outcome from a greedy world.

Uhhh suuuuuure. Let's destroy Pittsburgh's current economy (medical, education, banking) to bring back the economy of 50 years ago, but this time without unions or government regulations

I think I figured it out. For a long time there's been folks (me) comparing Musk to Lex Luthor. After re-watching Remembrance of the Daleks, I'm leaning towards Musk as Davros, creator of the Daleks.

I feel a bit strange linking to buzzfeed about this, but this article is easily consumable. I want to add a bit of my personal story. In 1972, my Dad worked for IBM in middle management and we were being moved to France. Then on the day of the move, my Dad died suddenly.

Chipping away at the R house majority is part (but nowhere near all) of how we can stop the current madness.
My opponent in FL-01 says he’ll go to Congress to “fix” our country.

If by "fix" he means rubber stamping the firing of our 20K federal employees, zeroing out SNAP benefits, and all but eliminating the VA for our 130K vets…

He’s gonna need a whole lot more ass to stand in my way! Bring it!

I always did have a way with words.

You should sign this petition though to try and do something about the PRT bus situation. Fuck the government.

Live near where the Steelers stadium, so I see this costume a fair amount.... only difference for Pittsburgh is the Steelers/Pirates/Pens jersey instead of t-shirt.

I graduated in 1994 and "took a year off before going to grad school." As my software dev/engineer career took off... and then it just didn't happen.
But, I'm happy to say that the last class for my MS in IT Management at the Kelley School of Business ends today!

Look, I don't want to diagnose from afar. I'm not qualified and lack any kind of objective data. However, I find it fascinating that these high functioning Dunning-Krugerians consistently seem to believe "I don't like it" equates to "criminal" or "evil".
Imagine saying this about an agency that has helped millions of people around the world avoid malaria, obtain clean water, and gain access to food & health care. Especially when you’re the world’s richest man & your net worth is something like 20 times this agency’s annual budget. What a foul soul.

Can confirm. I’ve live in Pittsburgh for 21 of the last 30 years. We have good pizza. This isn’t it, this is a demented lunchable.
every six months or so this image gets spread around and at least one person always feels the need to reach out to me for confirmation. yes it is real, but it is only one shop out of hundreds or thousands in Pittsburgh that makes pizza like this, I've never eaten there nor do I want to

How you see yourself will change over time as you learn and grow the you’ll see the same facts from a different perspective. I’m in my 50’s and still learning who I am. Be open to new things. Keep doing what works, stop doing what doesn’t.
people over 30 quote this with some life advice for the rest of us?

Same here, as long as it's not being used to as a way to target out-groups or individuals, increase jail time, reduce civil rights or as part of some overt power grab.

I know that's implied by "good" in the original post. But these days it doesn't hurt to be overly specific.
If I die in a manner that people can use do some small amount of good in the world, you all have my express permission to politicize the hell out of it.

So one of my new years resolutions was to learn to pain my fingernails. Started with a children's water based set, then found Habit Cosmetics who makes interesting water-based colors out of vegan materials.
Still learning, but I'm liking the colors.

This Pittsburgh cold snap has me thinking back to the winter of 93/94. There were a couple days of -20F windchill. Being from the North Country, NY I was one of the few people on campus with proper cold weather gear. I made almost $200 running to Skibo (rip) to pick up snacks/cigs for folks.

If NASA failed at this rate there would be protests to cut the budget.....

Failure in science and engineering is inevitable, but the private tech approach of "move fast and break things" (not to quote the berg) has very questionable ethics given the resources required for space faring.
