I used to feel self- conscious for buying myself flowers for no reason at all. Now the reason is self evident. They make my day and remind me of my mother and her beautiful English garden.

It is hard not to get an anticipatory tingle when this box arrives. Cancelled vacation south this spring and decided to travel virtually in style instead.

Our British Columbia Premier David Eby sums up feelings in a province previously very in sync with the American west. True friendship back and forth across the border now in jeopardy. I’ve cancelled two business trips south and said goodbye to my favourite California wines. Not people; all Trump.

Mike Myers on @SNL got it right. We Canadians will not be placated by the ridiculous/insane taunt of tariffs on/off. We will buy Canadian. We will boycott travel. We will support our Prime Minister. We will continue to hold out hope for our American friends. But we’re ready. #ElbowsUp.

More than simmering disapproval. Biggest one month drop in modern presidential history. Isn’t this supposed to be honeymoon phase? As people wake up to job losses, price hikes, brain drain exodus, hard to see this going up.

And so it begins in my country. After 9 years, 3 elections, and steering us through a pandemic, Trudeau’s Liberal caucus lost confidence in him and his resignation minutes ago was inevitable. Just hope it is in time to stop the rise of the right’s Pierre Poilievre (PeePee).
