FACT OF THE DAY. 9 August 1945. A US B-29 bomber dropped an atomic bomb (nicknamed “Fat Man”) on Nagasaki, Japan: 60 to 80 thousand were killed and hundreds of thousands more died later from the effects of radiation poisoning by contracting cancer. No atomic bomb has been used in warfare since.
