He/Him - Interesting people, perspectives, and places are what I am here for. Evergreen State Alum. AF Vet. Writer. Occasional Dungeon Master.
I'm definitely the JV human in my house of cats. The tuxedo tries to console me when I hang out with him in the bedroom. The minute Mom comes out of the knitting podcast haze she is the belle of the ball and I am an ugly stepfather. At least my wife still likes me almost as much as furry monsters :)

“Historically, when left to their own devices, states don’t necessarily do the right thing for kids with disabilities and their families,” a former director at the federal Office of Special Education Programs said.

The Department of Education Forced Idaho to Stop Denying Disabled Students an Education. Then Trump Gutted Its Staff.
For years, the Education Department was the only agency that could ensure states would improve conditions for disabled children. Now, Trump’s cuts threaten to hamper its oversight.

I'm re-reading “The Art of Peace” by Morihei Ueshiba, founder of Aikido. It is a short read but the ideas are weighty. “ Create each day anew by clothing yourself with heaven and earth, bathing yourself with wisdom and love, and placing yourself in the heart of Mother Nature.” Sounds twee to some?

Why is there any argument that genocide is taking place in Gaza? Is there a body count limit that I am unaware of? Like 100,000 is not enough we need 200,000. Where is our humanity? “This needs to stop”, he says impotently.

I am enjoying this D&D playlist I found on Spotify. It’s called DnD Village/Town. Some of it is perfect for a gaming session. But it’s mostly just calming. I like listening to it before bed. 🤓🎲

So I feel like I should be taking MMA classes in this day and age but I’m going to take Aikido classes instead and keep my protests peaceful

The child's mother was being deported and wanted to take the girl, U.S. lawyers said. When the judge asked to speak to her, they were already in the air.

US citizens are now being deported at the age of two. This is a crime. We all get due process rights even toddlers. Even immigrants. WTF

I have an Autistic Trans son. He is training to be a pharmacy tech. He is engaged to a wonderful man. As a former ABA tech I have seen some cases of the more extreme forms of Autism. I know how lucky we are. But Autism is not an epidemic. It’s just people who are different. That is a good thing.

When I left the Washington Post in 2023, my colleagues and I were worried AI would hoover up our work and enable "zombies" to churn out stories based on our reporting and writing styles.

Today WaPo announced a partnership with OpenAI. And here it is: Zombie Gillian Brockell. I DID NOT WRITE THIS.

I have been avoiding this topic because it is well covered ground. When I joined the military I swore an oath to defend the Constitution. Flash forward to today…I am so ashamed that I can’t leave the house in my AF ball cap. I’m trying to keep positive and my family safe but no one feels safe now
