Did you know that reading to children helps them build empathy? It’s true. And right now there’s so many reports and studies about how people read less, and read less to kids, and it seems like a time we need more empathy. So please read to the children in your life!

Can't march myself today so I really, really, really appreciate those of you who are. Be safe + keep your eyes open, let yourself feel supported by your community, and yell loud. You are not alone! And post pics if you can to inspire those who'll join next time! ❤️👊

In San Francisco, the march to City Hall begins at Dolores Park, which (for those who don't live here) is between The Mission, a largely Latino neighborhood, and The Castro, a largely gay neighborhood.

Always a lovely place for any kind of gathering, but feels very apt right now.
The "No Kings" organizers say that there are more than 1,800 protests planed for tomorrow.: www.nokings.org

We'll have journalists at several of them, but you can tag @motherjones.com with your clips and tips.

One of grants frozen at Cornell: $6.7M (4 yrs) to develop heart pumps for babies born w/ heart defects.

It took decades of work to get to point of prepping device for in-human clinical trials. No private company could do this.

The cruelty of the Trump administration is heartbreaking. So to speak.

Hey guys- White nationalists have helped a white woman in Minnesota raise $300k after she was filmed calling a five-year-old Black child the n-word.

The local NAACP chapter is fundraising for the boy and his family to get legal help. The least we could do is out-fundraise the nazis.

So, if you haven’t registered or recently moved or anything like that, you can register at your polling place (with ID and proof of residence) TODAY.
