Celebrating the unveiling of the Seven Saxon Kings embroideries at All Saints Kingston today, followed by an address by the wonderful Tom Holland explaining why Athelstan is a seminal character in English history. What a wonderful afternoon for a history buff. #Athelstan1100 #history

Does this book remind anyone else of Jonathan Livingston Seagull? Inspirational self-help as fiction. No wonder it’s sold so many copies!

Last time I was at @samreadbookseller.bsky.social I bought this extraordinary novel set in Grasmere during WW2 and written during the war before the outcome was known. Haunting. I think, from your posts, that you’d enjoy it!

Beautiful view of the City of London from Hays Galleria. Enjoying a drink with a view after leading a 3 hour guided walk in the City and Borough on a very hot day.

Another exciting WW2 read with an unlikely friendship at its heart and the highest of stakes! Lots of real history woven in too. Thank you @helenpeters.bsky.social @nosycrow.bsky.social

What a magical, beautiful book. I wasn’t interested in ponies as a child so the title put me off. If I’d known how little the horse featured, I’d have read it - it’s like a fairy tale with quiet humour. Loved it. Would be interested to know what modern children think of it.

Beating the Bounds at All Hallows by the Tower in London, on Ascension Day. I presume you were all doing something similar today?! (An ancient Anglo-Saxon ritual to remind parishioners of the boundaries of their parish.) A marvellous if slightly bonkers occasion!

Somehow missed out on this as a child, but a friend has kindly lent it to me. I can’t wait to dive in.

A bit late to the party on this, but now I know why so many people of all ages recommended this. And I recently read #DavidCopperfield for research on my WIP, which added a lot (and made me horribly smug I’m sorry to say 😊!)
