Bohernabreena reservoir, Glenasmole, constructed in the 1880s - River Dodder tributaries were segregated into those with clear water feeding the upper reservoir for drinking water supply and those with peaty water which were diverted around it to the lower reservoir to supply mills downstream

We found that natural regeneration was less effective than a planted cover crop in reducing nitrate leaching, especially in the absence of autumn cultivation - I think the original decision not to specify a planted cover in the Regulations was probably a pragmatic one based on costs for the farmer.
