Retired teacher but still teaching reading! 🇨🇦 Working towards changing literacy instruction in BC so all children will be taught to read and write.
I like to post pictures of my horse, Tonya, too! 🐴
This is a must listen for all educators with 2 of my favourite Canadian education advocates!
Spring is trying valiantly to arrive in the Cariboo, but it's a struggle.
Hay and carrot treats for Tonya!

New snow and a new episode of Chalk and Talk made feeding Tonya much nicer! The effects of declining math skills on science education is distressing! Well worth listening to!

I just finished listening while out doing some chores. Both of you touched on a number of things I've been thinking about too!
I had a few extra listeners, while I was outside too!

I demonstrated UFLI Lesson A in a K class this morning! New classroom, students, lesson, using a different computer, and projector. So many things to juggle and an unflattering video angle.
But, it’s helpful for a T to see what it can look her classroom.

This was an excellent episode and clarifies some misunderstandings of SoR. I picked 3 quotes from Nathan Clemens to highlight.
I listened while cleaning Tonya’s stall, because she’s still on stall rest! Alfalfa cubes for a treat!

Great discussion about how to harness the science of learning and what implementation can look like. It made my morning stall cleaning and feeding go quickly!

I’m a retired primary teacher, working as a reading tutor. UFLI is an explicit and systematic reading program developed by the University of Florida Literacy Institute. It is an excellent program for teaching reading and writing skills, especially in the primary space.

Great to see you here under Blue Skies!
Here’s my pic of Tonya for you today! She’s getting stall rest after pulling a tendon.

Great discussion between Brendan Lee and Nathaniel Swain about the Science of Learning! I was able to listen to some while doing chores and the rest with coffee. I picked out some great information from the transcript that I wanted to highlight!

My poor girl, Tonya, has to be locked up in her stall because she has a sore leg! Lots of wood chips for bedding, hay for eating, and water for drinking, too! She’s feeling better already.
She’s keeping me busy.
