Universities will have to improve their teaching degrees or face consequences. The reactions have been mixed

I find this statement both alarming and insulting. My role as an educator isn't just to teach, it's to ensure students have learned.

First the news of a law suit against Fountas & Pinnell and now a university is being (rightfully) questioned about its literacy programming.

I wonder what BC's universities are promoting or endorsing in their preservice ed. programs...🤔

It's unfortunate there remains a significant percentage of school districts in #BCEd that continue to mandate the use of Fountas & Pinnell resources.

The research is clear. Let's build capacity & learn together. #StructuredLiteracy benefits ALL learners.

I’ve been teaching for longer and had the same experience. Where’s the evidence #bced?
I've been teaching for 25+ years, and it's only been within the last 5 that I was introduced to the hierarchy of evidence. I wonder how many programs and initiatives are promoted in #BCEd with little to no evidence. Is it a matter of who has the loudest voice & the largest platform? Hmm...
