Merry trans day of visibility. I’m being visible at a wedding today. I hope all the trans folk out there use their temporary visibility wisely. ✊🏳️‍⚧️ #tdov

Also I haaate the bland grey uniforms in this one. They make the federation look like a neo-fascist society. Maybe that’s the point in this timeline given Admiral Marcus’ intentions, but it’s not what Star Trek should be about imo, and it made the film look…dull?

I’d love to see lots of them together presented with annotations like Louis Renard’s Fish 🫣 pdimagearchive.org/search/?q=Re...

I guess we’re going to see more of this, right? New accounts muddying the waters by adding anyone progressive to misleading lists?

When are we going to consign this toast pattern to the bin? Almost every app is using it now and it’s so annoying because it always covers the next action I want to do - GO BACK!

Never have I wanted to both laugh and cry at a government response to a petition as much as this. Kid Starver and Streeting want trans people to just die waiting.

😓

How did I miss this firefighter bull bukkake story from 2019? 😆

I really want to see Ewan’s first draft of this and see how many puns he originally wrote into it.

Lol. I’m definitely not a furry artist, but might follow some of them from artist starter packs. 😆

Now you just need one of these. 😎

Narwhals, narwhals, swimming in the ocean… 🎶

It was fun being a Nrwl while it lasted. 😔

Blue whale butt. 🤭

Game over, man, game over…

Alternatively though, “Get away from her, you bitch!” 💪

Rewatching Gladiator this evening and struck by a line that Derek Jacobi’s character Gracchus says. It feels almost prophetic about the near future for some reason.

This is good to see from Lego. Less single use plastic! I have no idea what kind of impact that’ll make overall, but it’s something.

Lego bricks themselves are still mostly made from oil, but they were looking to switch to something entirely sustainable by 2030. We’ll see if they manage.

Merry Xmas to me. I've just learned about Uiua.

It looks like this. 😧

Even Van Gogh was influenced by carcinisation towards the end of his life… 😆

#SpotifyWrapped season is upon us. Can you tell I listen to a lot of electronic music while coding?

I am normally a lot more polyjamorous than this… 😅

Duolingo are really leaning into the idea of the scary, demanding, green owl… 😅

Many harsh but possibly necessary words from Alex here. Worth a read and giving some thought to. If you’ve never encountered the UKs Government Digital Service, they are worth researching for their approach.

My sweet angel baby. 😍

He’s been curled up like this next to me all day.

More disturbingly, apophenia is the reason many people are drawn into conspiracy theories. We see patterns where they don’t exist and ascribe effects to unrelated events.

It’s a difficult bias to combat because false conclusions can look very convincing.

Even when they’re ridiculous. 🏴‍☠️

DeepDream is an image processing program which deliberately uses algorithmic pareidolia to “enhance” patterns within existing images. The result is said to be very reminiscent of psychedelic hallucinations. 💊

When we went back to Mars early this century, we took more high resolution images and the effect was almost completely lost however.

Unfortunately this leaves us making the wrong interpretations a lot now.

For example, the Cydonia face on Mars.

In 1976 the Viking 1 orbiter took this photo which looks to us strikingly like a face!

This is a type of Apophenia called Pareidolia. We are very, very good at noticing “faces”
