Teen Vogue was one of my first bylines as a freelancer. And it was bc of their incisive political coverage that I trusted them w/ a pitch on Palestinian singer, Nemahsis. I’m still so, so proud of these stories & devastated by the loss of an outlet that platformed so many POC/queer voices.

anyway, for no reason at all, just thinking about the time I got to profile Melissa Barrera for @ELLEmagazine in April ‘23, and she talked about being a huge horror fan, and how much playing Sam Carpenter in Scream meant to her. www.elle.com/culture/movi...

In 2022, Scream V completely revitalized the franchise, with the followup, VI, becoming the highest grossing film in the series. They did it with TWO Latinas at the helm only to throw it away bc Melissa Barrera had enough integrity to speak out against genocide. What a joke.

Watching it for the second time now and Kiss of the Spider Woman really is so so special. JLo is in peak form, Diego Luna is raw and captivating, but Tonatiuh turns in one of the most powerful, heartbreaking performances of the year. In a just world, he'll have an Oscar in 2026.

there should be a show with a different Walton Goggins character airing every weekday. David Zaslav call me and I can save your company

spoke with the diva who presented Beyoncé with Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter!

turns out Captain Sheila Kelliher is also a Texas girl (and a trailblazer), who says Beyoncé is “part of the fabric” of what this state is.

still remember what it felt like scrolling through my feed in the pandemic and stopping dead in my tracks the first time I heard Chappell Roan singing “Pink Pony Club.” just pure magic. what an insane journey — from clubs and bars to the stage as a GRAMMY AWARD WINNER!!

WOW. completely and utterly blown away by Tonatiuh Elizarraraz in Kiss of the Spider Woman. He’s dazzling and heartbreaking, embodying a character so vulnerable and so vital — what a beautiful reminder of how art can help us escape even the darkest, most repressive times. #Sundance2025

a standing ovation at Sundance for JLo after Kiss of the Spider Woman, and let me just say this: start the 2026 Oscar campaign right now, because she’s undeniable!! it’s a larger than life role that she pulls off with such precision it’s impossible to escape her web. #Sundance2025

ATROPIA: the highlight of my Sundance so far, just full of surprises, from the surreal setting to the chemistry between Alia Shawkat & Callum Turner. It’s sharp, sad, funny, and completely original — a tender romance and a biting war satire all in one. #Sundance2025

it isn’t just that we’ve lost one of the greats, it’s that I don’t know if we’ll ever get anyone as dazzlingly weird & unflinchingly sincere as David Lynch again. he deserved more time & more support from an industry that’s become so risk averse it’s a miracle we even had him at all

what an insane show of range from Luca Guadagnino, Justin Kuritzkes, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross on Challengers AND Queer last year!! one runs on pure adrenaline and sexual tension, the other lingers and meditates on every glance, every unspoken desire — both completely hypnotic

Beyoncé’s ability to make the most showstopping performances feel so effortless is insane. you would think the first-ever “Beyoncé Bowl” was a fully lived-in residency she’s been putting on for years.

it’s bad enough that a billionaire bought his way into the white house, but it honestly makes it so much worse that he’s such a fucking loser.

we desperately need to bring back movie stars like Patrick Swayze. the film industry is suffering bc our leading men aren’t also singers, dancers, football players, gymnasts, and horsemen!!
