And the larger of a corporation that owns that service or IP at the top level, the less likely they are to ensure any more than bare-minimum functionality purely out of the goodness of their shriveled little hearts.

Based on my time in the agriculture, automotive, and tech industries, my experience is that any time you have a captive audience created by monopoly/duopoly or regionalized cartel business structure, the lack of competition always reduces the pressure on the provider to provide adequate service.

Cloudflare is a critical service that much of the internet relies on to function. When they go down, they take most of the internet with them. The tech industry loves putting all its eggs in one fragile basket.
