I was just thinking the other day that it is mad that if this continues then the book I'm writing, about London 1560-1630, will contain basically no British Library manuscript material. Would have been unthinkable to me but there hasn't been a manuscript catalogue for two years now!
I’ve written a piece on the curious lack of media and political interest in the issues faced by our national @britishlibrary.bsky.social. This is strange given we live in a world where ideas, knowledge and research are a long-term source of innovation and insight

...the results are impressive. There was never a chance that the monument was going to be removed given state law. This at least provides an opportunity to continue to reclaim this space and use it for educational purposes. I look forward to visiting with student groups and other tours that I lead.

Folks, this is huge news. The old museum pushed a decidedly Lost Cause narrative. The Stone Mountain Memorial Association has been working on this new museum over the past couple years and a number of companies competed for the contract to create a new interpretive space. From what I've heard...

The Sons of Confederate Veterans in Georgia tried to block it, but a new museum will open on December 2 at Stone Mountain to tell the story of the largest Confederate monument in the world.
