Yesterday, students on our 2nd year "British Protest Movements" module tried their hand at designing and making political banners.

As part of their studies of Chartism, students used slogans and symbolism common in early 19th century banners.

Innovative teaching enjoyed by all! 🎨🗃️

Dr Alan Malpass, Senior Lecturer in Military History, has been in Denmark this week for the "From Warfare to Welfare?" conference.

Alan presented his paper on the Braintree Experiment & Germany POWs in Britain.

Erik Grigg, Senior Lecturer in History, took part in the "1940s Weekend" at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. Assisted brilliantly by students, he demonstrated Home Guard drills and other Home Guard experiences. More great public outreach offered by our team! 🪖🗃️

Yesterday we screened the 1969 classic "Oh! What a Lovely War" in our on-campus cinema. Dr Alan Malpass, Senior Lecturer in Military History, provided an introduction. This was the first in a series of film showings to complement undergraduate modules on WWI, "Invented Histories", and much more 📽️🗃️
