Great games kept it aloft, but they were waaaaaay ahead of their time with some of the streaming, messaging, and smart phone esque functionalities.

the Japanese ps5 version is also censored.

The best thing that Gamefreak has done in the last Gen or so is make it much more accessible to train competitive teams. End game battling has always been one of the more difficult and rewarding parts of the franchise, but so few players had the time and means to do it "right" in older games

They make 30 billion in profit in a quarter. Layoffs mean they found a machine to buy instead of paying a human. That doesn't mean they're struggling.
