I definitely agree on both aspects. There's also the issue that once videos are recorded for curriculum they are uni intellectual property. While teaching material likely counts as university IP, they still need someone to teach it effectively. If the videos do that, will any issues arise around IP?

My husband experienced this type of teaching during his engineering degree. I wasn't convinced at first but instead of time spent in person for lectures they had more interactive time with guided learning based on the video material and he thought it was effective and engaging.
