Battered spouse must stop making abuser so angry, says NATO chief.

He doesn’t mean it, he loves you, you just make him so mad sometimes, maybe you shouldn’t talk so much, you’re tearing this family apart.

A study reveals how a major 2011 Dutch hospital outbreak of antibiotic-resistant bacteria showed a changing genetic landscape over a decade. Different OXA-48-like plasmids popped up, but the initial outbreak plasmid didn't stick around, underscoring the changing nature of bacterial resistance.
Diversification of bla OXA-48-harbouring plasmids among carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales, 11 years after a large outbreak in a general hospital in the Netherlands.

New year, new assemblies!
I'm excited to announce Autocycler, my new tool for consensus assembly of long-read bacterial genomes!
It's the successor to Trycycler, designed to be faster and less reliant on user intervention.
Check it out: github.com/rrwick/Autoc...

I had fun using pangenome graphs to explore the global epidemiology of blaGES-5-associated integrons 🔎

The next challenge: can we integrate pangenome graphs into the routine surveillance of integrons?
