Any info on how much revenue this app generates? I feel like without active marketing, its quite hard to launch an app purely for passive income. I have never done it though so curious what it is like in the real world

What are you building?

That's an interesting idea, maybe a short introductory video? Im trying to make some of these features mandatory in new profiles so each profile meets a certain quality bar. I believe a dating app is only as good as the quality of the profiles on there.

The thing that irks me the most is that in every demo and review they build an app from scratch and they often have well defined requirements (like a todo list). There is little amount of context and legacy and the requirements are predetermined, neither of which is the case for most real projects

I have considered picking a more "sidehustely" backend such as supabase, firebase, etc. However, my (very limited) experience is that they are quite hard to test since you depend on external services.

Also I'm inexperienced with these tools, so I can't utilize the promised development speed #SaaS

Do you have any examples of things you procrastinated at first?

Thanks for the advice Aleid! This is indeed something I struggled in the past with. The barriers to start a project seem quite significant, and maybe the only way to tackle them is to just start and learn as you go :)

One suggestion I have is to maybe add more contrasting colors to the chats sent by you vs the ones sent by them. I do really like how clean it looks already!

Ah yea, it is quite similar on tinder/bumble. I feel though that adding more swipes only makes people more disposable though. I quite like apps that only give you 5-10 profiles a day. It encourages more mindful swiping IMO

I am not familiar with her, how does purchasing premium get around this? You just get put in the spotlight more?
May 25, 2025 at 2:23 PM
Yea I totally get that... you can get burned out quite quickly on these apps

Maybe if those apps stopped offering so many profiles a day, people would spend more time and intention on the matches they already have, and there wouldn't be an incentive to be super bold in your first texts

Im curious what you think is the most miserable aspect. I was surprised to learn the difference in experience between men and women on these apps
May 25, 2025 at 1:43 PM
IMO, many don't realize how damaging this can be to society. The social gap between men and women is widening and hate towards the other gender is increasing. I think the modern dating experience is a big part of the issue. I believe solving this will be beneficial for us all. Do you agree?

For women, safety concerns are a huge issue. Men often cross the line on dating apps, and despite having more options, a lack of trust often leads to women ditching dating apps entirely.
