“Gen Z’s inability to afford housing is really putting a damper on the real estate industry.“

I mean, health risks of alcohol consumption aside, I have a hard time blaming Gen Z for not spending as much money on non-essentials as previous generations?

Nothing better than a good hound lean.

We’re in our 40s of course we do. These things just materialize at certain age milestones like sensible sneakers and electric heating pads.

Look I’m the one who’d have to live with the fallout.

Also that’s the only dining out they can afford to do after buying that rolling dust buster.

I’m so sorry. It’s too short, but at least you both were able to fill his life with love.

A lot of the HOA justifications for banning native plan gardens is that they “attract vermin.” I’m personally skeptical of this argument, I think it’s ecophobia plus aesthetics policing. Tl,dr — I think health and safety should be in the local government purview (not HOA)
November 19, 2025 at 9:27 PM
I have a fantasy of an HOA model that focuses on providing mutual support (organize a tool share! help neighbors shovel sidewalks! etc) but seems like most of them prefer to enforce hegemony at the expense of just about everything else.

I was hoping the project was “see how much yarn $1k can get you

La Pluma: all the neighbors except for THAT one. You know the one.

tbh: this is a faux pas that I have neither the time nor the energy to worry about.

Actually the Linden they have on the list is nonnative so if that’s a priority I would skip that. I’m partial to service beery but it’s not a shade tree. Redbuds are also gorgeous but their limbs droop so it will constantly need pruning to keep the sidewalk passable.
November 18, 2025 at 1:05 PM
Skip the maple, they have weak limbs and they’re over-represented anyway. Agree with others that black gum and linden are quite nice. The fringe trees I’ve seen planted as street trees haven’t been doing well at all. Oaks are great for wildlife in general.
