A very obscure person in important circles and a very important person in obscure circles. No, more obscure than that. I promise you haven’t heard of them.
For some reason that has become a thing with younger players, and as a high school JV coach it drives me INSANE.

The *best* thing you could do against him was throw him pitches that a high school JV player would nuke into the parking lot.

I was reffing soccer this morning and after one of the games one of the kids in the handshake line started saying “6-7” instead of “good game.” Took about five seconds for everyone to start doing it and it was the most joyful handshake line I’ve ever seen.

“Couldn’t win the primary, but definitely would’ve won the general” is, uh, familiar.

Nah. We’re going to be like “yeah, Jordan was pretty good, but let me tell you about the *real* GOAT.”
October 11, 2025 at 3:18 AM
Huh. That’s interesting. I’ll have to try that when I get the second dose of Hep B in a couple weeks.

WHO IN THE ACTUAL HELL THINKS BOB DYLAN IS COOLER THAN JOHNNY CASH?
October 10, 2025 at 2:10 AM
Yeah, I’m hoping that the end result of the Comey/James cases will be people realizing that ANY bit of fighting back causes the house of cards to collapse. Like, pretty much everything they’re doing is nonsense! Say that loudly enough and the courts won’t want to give it their blessing!

I did COVID-flu-pneumonia-Hep B last week and it wasn’t bad at all. Arms were pretty sore the next day, but otherwise just some general tiredness/fogginess.

He was still a very good performer post-9/11. But his early career trajectory was very much “awesome country singer with a cool mix of modern and traditional styles” as opposed to “way more talented Lee Greenwood.”
October 8, 2025 at 1:12 AM
Man, I saw him a couple times in the first few years of his career and he was AWESOME. If 9/11 didn’t happen, we’d be talking about him as one of the all-time great country performers.

Boy howdy is that second sentence there a collection of words in a particular order.

Absolutely name the livestock, because odds are it will eventually end up being something like “oh yeah Jeff, now it’s *my* turn.”

Nothing tastes better than a steak you know by name, with the sole exception of a pork chop you know by name.

Hey Kentucky Lake is … OK fine it tops out at “pretty good.”

They can have my em dashes — which are an incredibly useful tool for clarity — when they pry them from my cold, dead hands.

I had no dog in that fight — in fact, my preferred outcome would’ve been both teams losing — but it was AWESOME. I can’t imagine not being able to enjoy something that cool because I had a six-leg parlay that didn’t hit because Johnny Damon didn’t hit a double.

I am almost convinced he did that answer as an extremely self-aware bit, because it couldn’t be more apt.

And then they follow it up with Bielema parachuting in just long enough to say “honey.”

I would agree with you if Thomas had run through her. But she took the angle to the ball and Collier’s momentum carried her into Thomas. I don’t see how you can call that a foul when Thomas was angling away from contact and has a right to go after the loose ball.
September 27, 2025 at 4:22 AM
That is pretty much the definition of incidental contact. It sucks that Phee got hurt on the play, but it wasn’t a foul.

No. Basketball officials are zebras, baseball umpires are blue, all others are ref, but ref is also an acceptable way to address a zebra. There are RULES, Andy. We live in a society.

The one thing to remember about gravy is that you can always add liquid, but you can’t take it out.

The hilarious thing about that game is you look at Mayfield’s box score and just about faint, then you look at Mahomes’s and Mayfield’s looks downright pedestrian.
