Seattleite, hiker, love all animals but currently live with just one cat, reading is my fave thing (history, mystery, historical mysteries, scifi, science, nonfiction generally), big fan of Deep Space and Deep Time. Liberal Democrat.
..and you paint them very well! Lovely portrait :)

It was either him or a Black woman. Racism and sexism in one poisonous package.

Who are they quoting? The last I heard, Rivers wasn't going to play Sunday, as he hasn't had a chance to practice or study the playbook yet.

So very sorry, but if you look at the history of Christianity, this is *exactly* the sort of thing Christians do.

The kindly, loving, generous, "Christ-like" ones do exist; I don't deny that at all... but they are a fig leaf. A Potemkin religion.

Still one of my faves.

This is good news: maybe I can start reading VF again.

Will Fallon ruffle Altman's hair?

Oh, the cuteness! (Both of you 😄)

Hairless cats are terrific, but pretty high maintenance. They need to be washed and lotioned, their ears and eyes need regular cleaning/wiping, and their nailbeds also need to be regularly cleaned out (since they have no fur to keep out schmutz.)

I honestly don't see any use whatsoever for business executives - all they do is chase management fads (remember Total Quality Improvement?).

It would be interesting to see how big companies would work without any C Suites at all.

They knew what he was. They knew who his advisors are.

They were around for the 4 yrs of Trump I: chaos, corruption, and depraved indifference.

They knew. They *liked* all that; they *wanted* all that.

(Or, maybe, they're just dumber than domesticated turkeys.)

MSM has done this *literally* since Reagan, because I remember the first time I saw the use of this term to obfuscate.

It was in either the NYT or WaPo - bc I read both back then - something about "the perception" that his enviro polices favored polluters.

I was like: "**Perception**? WTF?"

IIRC, pigeons don't actually like to nest in fully-enclosed spaces. I think they prefer a place they can fly out from quickly if they have to, but under cover so predator birds can't get at the nest. Search says they like to nest on ledges, beams, that sort of thing.

Oh, I do like the fingernails-in-the-leg gesture of gentle persuasion. Give that boy his 'bab!

They were so excited, they....passed out?

I can't get over, or into, the kind of mind that rejects so much science and medicine. I can't comprehend the "philosophy" behind it - other than a very brutish eugenicism. Which doesn't explain why ordinary people would line up for it!

Does the book try to grapple with that; with the "Why?"

You had, unfortunately, no lack of material to draw from. Past *and* present.

Is this another new book? You just published "So Very Small"!

....pre-ordered :)

He doesn't work with anyone he doesn't have some horrific S&M hold over.

And, as we are forever discovering, there is something in the RW/"MOTU" mindset that craves being humiliated and dominated, as long as they can dish the same out to someone else.

The Project 2025 people who actually run things definitely think ahead, and what they're probably thinking is that Vance will do for them just as well, if not better, than Trump.
