If you want a game where you can play as a frog wizard, try Absolum.

Quote tweets are always helpful, and I really want people to see more of this goofy ass game.

It is! But also, the slasher wears an owl mask.

Look, I had a mighty desire for that Stage Fright tee, cool Supsiria one made the shipping justifiable.

Playing more Tormented Souls 2 today was fun, I love this game.

So, pro tip, there's an alternate costume for Caroline

This makes no difference to the game, but I think it looks cooler

It can be a gloriously stupid game, like there's a puzzle involving retrieving an item from a dead shark's mouth, and you think you know what's gonna happen when you get the item, that the shark is gonna snap shut, but that's not what happens.

It vomits up a load of crabs, then you fight the crabs.

Gameplay wise it's a very deliberately designed game and you're either onboard with that, or it'll rub you the wrong way. Like for example, on harder difficulties you have limited recording tape, and you have to drag the tape from your inventory to the recorder and hit record to save. I love it!

This is where Tormented Souls 2 really succeeds, because while the original game was set in a single location akin to the first Resident Evil, the sequel is set in a town and has several distinct locations linked by a small hub area, and the art design went absolutely hog wild on these areas!
November 11, 2025 at 5:32 PM
And while the first game looked gorgeous, the environmental design did an incredible job, they absolutely went to town with the sequel, there's some absurd detail here! Like how in the fish processing plant, there's all these extravagant greebles everywhere, clocks that are set into ship wheels...

One of the reasons I loved the first game was those fixed camera angles, the use of which I felt was something of a lost art, because of how intentionally developers can position those angles to dramatic effect, drawing the player's attention towards something by framing it, or obscuring threats...

If you've not heard of either Tormented Souls games before, they are both deliberately oldschool Survival Horror experiences that feature fixed camera angles with gorgeous environments, (optional) tank controls, lots of puzzles, somewhat clunky combat, and gloriously B-movie cheese kinda plots.

Playing a bit more Whiskerwood this morning, which I am very glad I'm making time for, very Timberborn-esque mouse city builder, though I've ended up in a little bit of a death spiral in my first playthrough and I wasn't prepared for how the little mice crawled around when they're sick :(

Joyce Carol Oates absolutely reading Elon Musk for filth is pretty incredible, but something I'd point out is his feigned interest in games, and how fake that was, paying people to boost his accounts and play for him, and the rare time we actually got to see him play, he was absolutely miserable.
