Thank you to creepy woods connoisseur @wnwagner.bsky.social for her stellar review of MORSEL! Her novel GIRL IN THE CREEK was one of my most anticipated reads this year. It did not disappoint!

Three more lines to make you want to read MORSEL!

Another blurb, baby! JACKAL by @iameeadams is one of the novels I went to for inspiration for MORSEL (April 2026, @tornightfire). Adams has a knack for tying social horror and folklore together that I find deeply impressive. It's extremely cool that she liked MORSEL.

It's pretty wild for the authors who inspired your book to not just read it but like it. It's even wilder when that author's own work has served as a constant inspiration for close to ten years.

I first read The Lamb Will Slaughter the Lion by @margaret.bsky.social the year after my undergrad.

A few of my favorite lines from MORSEL. This was harder than i thought it'd be. Most of the lines I wanted to pull had spoilers. I suspect that's a function of the story's length (~40k), which had me cut cut cutting anything that didnt contribute something specific.

I've been trying to get this outline to a solid place and truly the best medicine has been to read other good words. The current good words in question:

I thought about what would make me buy this book if someone else wrote it. This is what I came up with.

MORSEL has everything: deep dark woods, 'good for her' vibes, agender protag, sidekick dog, runes, and anticapitalist rage.

There's blood. There's some gore. Mostly it's a fun time.
