Autistic Nerd extraordinaire: larp, archery, history, reenactment I love them all.
You know I am not a bot because I don’t post regularly enough for that

Some times it is the simple things in life. Like listening to medieval music while you put points on your gambeson so you can attach your new and lovely jack chains, so you are ready for the big larp event at Hammershus #larp #armour #diy

Listening to the adventures of Tom Swan, while carving a new spoon is an excellent way to spent the evening.

Protip for a cheap level up of your kicking. Stinging nettle salt. Dirt cheap to make.
Stingingnettles are wonderful plants with plenty of usage, from dying cloth, to making cheese, to add a little something something to your roast meat.
They are also a wonderful substitute for blanched spinach.

The feeling when you had a bunch of audible credits saved up and can just get an entire series

Waiting for @phokion.bsky.social to write the French Ambassador.
Guess I have to see if I can find a rapier school near me.

Few authors manage to pull me in so fast and so completely ad @phokion.bsky.social does in his new book The Venetian Heretic.
I can’t wait to listen to it all.
The combination of Christians writing skills and Peter Noble as a narrator is simply amazing.

I now qualify as a hobbit I think.
I have whittled my first pipe! And learned how to spell whittle… here it is compared to my regular pipe… I think I did well. Willow stem and maple head

Welp found the before picture.
Whole new handle. Gave the blade a dirty polish (I need a belt sander, so badly).
Zebrano handle, polished to 600 grit. Which is of course silly.
Lovely piece with many years of service left.
And a photogenic cherry tree

Nice but of field archery today with my niece and a few others from the club. Including my best target so far. Two in the heart.

70 paces, 3/4 arrows in target. There’s a learning curve and a half, but it is getting there.

It was finally real spring weather this Monday. So we got to use the outdoor range.
60 meters to the bear. First time I actually shot at anything at that distance. Could be much better lol

I need a better setup for soldering, and to learn that skill lol.
But here it is. The throat for my Tod cutler dagger’s sheath.
While not perfect, it is good enough.

I swear this was an accident.
Was just trying to learn a new skill, and boom! I made a thing!
It’s not perfect but it’s mine!

And now to something a bit different.
Using some skills from leatherworking to teach myself ripousé work. My drawing skills are definitely lackluster, but fun work non the less.

Hmmm… perhaps I should switch to shooting left handed after all…

It took ages and it isn’t amazing. But I finished the first one. Next one will be stitched up in the flat instead of the edge.
If anyone knows of a good way to do that let me know.

Longtime no see!
When I go larping I usually bring at least one chefs knife. Until now it had just been wrapped in paper and making tape, but no more. After having made one more camping chefs knife, I am making sheaths for them. Wood core with leather cover.

It took two hours but I have now sharpened all the kitchen knives in the house
January 28, 2025 at 2:13 PM
Blimey. I haven’t worked on this knife since last year (yes my humour is that bad).
Handle of unknown wood that smelled spicy, like it literally smelled like spices, very nice. Sanded to 400 grid
Linseed oil and beeswax finish.

Got it Madam Trump.

A dozen colourful arrows ready for binding.
American cedar shafts, and absolutely the cheapest fletching, nocks and points I can get in the local shop. Some things doesn’t have to be expensive.
