The trickiest for me was putting Carter Bryant over Cedric Coward, but you know who wasn’t tricky. Cooper Flagg, who I think is, outside of Wemby, the clearest #1 pick since Anthony Davis.
@carsen-williams.bsky.social gives up his top 10 NBA Draft Prospects, with a little bit about each! Do you agree? Disagree? Who are you higher and lower on? Honorable mentions to Cedric Coward and Noa Essengue

I said on the latest episode of Hoops & Helmets, Duke’s big flaw is endurance. If you can say within striking distance late, you can exploit that. In the end, Duke was gassed and Houston was not.
Duke had a 92.7% chance to win with 1:26 left in the game, according to ESPN.

Houston went on an 11-1 run in the final 1:14 to fuel a comeback for the ages and send the Cougars to the National Championship 🤯

I talked about this on the latest episode of Hoops & Helmets, but no, March has not “lost its madness.”

In a single-game format, upsets with forever be inevitable - the best team does not always win. We may see less, and we should could ourselves lucky for that…

“(Arizona) finally did expose a flaw that nobody had been able to get out of Duke all year, and that’s endurance.”

@carsen-williams.bsky.social breaks down Duke’s biggest weakness as a team, and how Florida could exploit that in a hypothetical national championship game.

Duke-Alabama highlighted the Blue Devils’ multiple avenues to victory, which is so important in March-early April.

The didn’t play well offensively, specifically Flagg & Knueppel (12/31 combined). Defensively though, it was a Duke masterclass. Held a team that just scored 113 to 65 on 35% shooting

I feel pretty bad for Texas Tech. Played Florida to their closest game of the tournament, shot basically the same from the field & from three, but shot 14 less free throws and made 18 less.

On Florida’s side, they showed resiliency and toughness that they haven’t had to show up to this point.

I genuinely can’t stop thinking about that Duke-Arizona game.

It’s astounding how incredible Caleb Love (35p 4r 70%TS) was, and yet he was not the best player in the game. Cooper Flagg (30p 6r 7a 4stocks 64%TS) put on an absolute masterclass, affecting the game in every way.

But he can do more.

Taylor Jenkins was given a team that was built to crumble in the playoffs time and time again. As Kleiman said, under Jenkins we saw clearly improvement year after year of players, and they had sustained success. The real villain in Memphis is building the team, not coaching it.
Grizzlies fire Taylor Jenkins. GM Zach Kleiman: “I’m genuinely appreciative of Taylor’s contributions to this team and this city over the past six seasons. This was a difficult decision given the consistent and tangible development of our players and overall success under Taylor’s leadership.”

Arizona has shined light on the one crack in the Blue Devil’s armor: endurance.

This isn’t to say Duke isn’t well-conditioned. Duke is a really big team. The entire starting lineup is 6’6” or taller. They wear down. If you can stay within striking distance late and wear them down, you have a chance
March 28, 2025 at 4:30 AM
Halftime for Duke/Arizona, with the Blue Devils up 6.

Cooper Flagg has been clearly the best player for either team. He finished the half with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists on 70% TS. Once he began more aggressive, particularly in the short roll, it was clear Arizona has no answer for him.
March 28, 2025 at 3:05 AM
I don’t want to jinx it, but I would really be shocked if Arizona beat Duke.

Shout out to Ernie Johnson for this fact:
Duke is the first team in NCAA history to make the sweet 16 scoring the most points while allowing the fewest.

Read that again.

This is genuinely an incredible Florida Gators basketball team. I have been so focused on Duke’s greatness- and rightly so, they’re the best team in the nation- that I may have underestimated. Duke is the better team, but the gap is smaller than I previously thought.

At this point, I think it’s pretty clear who the best team is the nation is.

I actually think it’s pretty team who the best two teams in the nation are. I just think there is a pretty sizable cap.
