I’m a tender hearted artist/illustrator/mom in the PNW trying to find my way forward in light of recent events. Bi 🏳️‍🌈
My trans teen and I went to a TDOV march in our sanctuary city yesterday. It started off so sweet with people giving out flowers and chocolate covered strawberries. We’ve been going to protests since they were a baby, but this was the first time we felt unsafe at one. (Cont. below)

Not sure how to proceed when the future feels so dark. I keep going though.

Hi, it’s #kidlitartpostcard day! I’m an illustrator from Olympia, WA working in both digital and traditional media, incorporating handmade textures into my art. I’m currently working on a graphic memoir about growing up in the 80’s. I love to quilt and embroider, too!

I’m finishing the small projects I began during the hopeful days before the election. The color and patterns reflected my mood at the time. It feels very dark these days, but it’s good to remember that spirit did exist. Hold on to the light my friends. ❤️

Last minute handmade gift idea: accordion journals made with recycled paintings and the unused pages of an old watercolor sketchbook.

December is for staying up all night reading. Currently reading And Then She Fell by Alicia Elliott. Next up: Parable of the Talents by Octavia Butler.

Small illustration for fun. Making art can feel futile in the face of everything. Yet nothing makes me feel happier—and that has worth. Find the things that sustain you when the world feels very un-fun. 🎪

My oldest is home on her first college break and the number one request is cranberry sauce from scratch! I hope you have a warm home and time with loved ones this week.❤️
