Almost a dozen hatcheries in Puget Sound are in limbo because a single NOAA employee was terminated by DOGE in February.

That employee was Krista Finlay and her job at NOAA was to ensure hatcheries complied with the Endangered Species Act before the fish were released into Puget Sound.

In Washington, where salmon is a multibillion dollar industry, government staff terminations and budget freezes may put salmon production at risk.

So basically he's directing the DOJ to... what, file lawsuits to stop enforcement of state climate laws? It's fascinating that he chooses to sign EOs for these things so he can grandstand. But unless I'm missing something, they have no meaning beyond just telling the DOJ to do something.

But again: These only "work" by intimidation. The AG CANNOT do anything unless the targeted programs are "unconstitutional, preempted by Fed law, or unenforceable."

So it's up to the states and locals to either comply proactively out of fear, or stand up and tell Bondi to take a hike.

Wtf?!? The federal government has no jurisdiction over state laws.
Respectfully Dr. Hayhoe, you have the power and influence to build a coalition to sue to stop this EO. I would assist.

Today's US EO orders the Attorney General to identify + take expeditious action to stop enforcement of "all State & local laws... purporting to address “climate change” or involving “environmental, social, and governance” initiatives, “environmental justice,” carbon or “greenhouse gas” emissions."
This executive order confirms that. They are attacking all "state laws" that address climate change, ESG, environmental justice and/or greenhouse gases.

The bond market shows capital flight from the United States, with people selling off US debt.

It’s the opposite of what usually happens during economic turmoil, when people buy US debt because they think it’s the safest asset in the world.

The US-led global economic system is dead. By suicide.

Spoiler: It is absolutely market manipulation
Rep. Steven Horsford to Greer: "So the trade representative hasn't spoken to the POTUS about a global reordering of trade, but yet he announced it on a tweet? WTF! Who is in charge? It looks like your boss just pulled the rug out from under you. There is no strategy ... is this market manipulation?"

This post started from a sense of puzzlement.

The US constitution expressly provides that it is for Congress not president to set trade policy.

Yet Trump is setting not only US trade policy but recasting the entire international trade system, by executive order.

How was this possible?

My answer.

The answer to this question is always YES.

Every extreme event today occurs over a background of changed conditions that dynamically affect temperature, rainfall, and more.

The real question is, “by how much did climate change make this event worse”? That’s the info attribution science provides.
Did climate change supercharge the 'once-in-a-lifetime' storm pummeling the central US?
A relentless storm is unleashing floods and tornadoes. Here's how a warmer atmosphere and a simmering Gulf of Mexico may be making it worse.
