Yes, the causation rumour was wrong but aspirin increasing death toll is not outlandish. Thinking of Reye’s syndrome. Also its blood thinning properties that could cause issues in some esp if overused

Interesting. It’s always worth hunting down the origin of these things rather than dismissing them outright. The aspirin-flu death in 1918 link makes some sense. Pretty sure there will be no similar sense to the paracetamol-autism claim but I’d still be interested in where the idea came from.

Places that use this tactic (looking at you NYT, making me actually call you to cancel) I just cancel the direct debit. Suddenly the place that was trying to avoid me so badly is contacting me. And I'm not home for it.

Well, let's hope. Also--all the backroom, dark money, deals made to get Labour resoundingly elected last go will still be there. Debts are still owed, Starmer or no Starmer. This is the core problem.

Free speech only of you want to spew hate and bile. If you're a granny who wants to peacefully wear a t-shirt supporting an end to genocide, well, all bets are off. Starmer can't bend deep enough to please Trump and Musk. It is a true embarrassment.

It's beyond that. It's "I want to do everything in my power to make sure there are less non-white people in the world." If that means babies with HIV, then he's up for it.

He appointed Mandelson *because* of his Epstein connection. Both because it's something he has in common with Trump and also because his insider knowledge of Trump's Epstein dealings meant Trump would want to keep him on side.

Well, once you've given the "island of strangers" speech I'm not really sure you can turn around and give the "don't worry racists, there aren't so many immigrants, really" speech. Labour is done for anyone with any heart.

Couldn't agree more with everything in this piece @pollyrowena. I walked the coast path as a mind clearing activity while dealing with my daughter who was very ill with ME and POTS. The idea that dragging her along to walk with me might "cure" her is infuriating.

I am currently 160k into a first person past novel based on a real person and it has been...challenging! Also history, research, a million other things. And my first novel was 1st person past. I didn't learn!!!

Ok. I read the piece. This guy sounds so all over the place and disorganised. You initially said PA was "funded by" this guy which gives the impression he was almost a founder or a major backer. Rich guy who shares your ideology offers to pay legal fees. What organisation isn't going to say yes?
