So we’ve got two competing schools of what the Democratic Party should do next. One of them is hosting the largest political rallies in history in places like New Hampshire and Arizona, and the other one just got $120 million from Silicon Valley and is on a book tour.

Most men have defined masculinity as not-feminine.

This means that the more women expand their abilities and interests once the domain of men, these men then have to more narrowly define their masculinity.

Soon all that’s left is just the toxic parts.

The year is 2035. I meet President AOC in the Oval Office. "You've done well," she says. "By telling men to dress gay, you've lowered the population rate by 90%, thereby reducing carbon emissions." She slides me a manilla envelope. I can now afford a home in a walkable neighborhood

Just learned a Syrian migrant invented the ice cream cone at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair

Given the similarities in shape, this is making me wonder if the ice cream cone should be considered a variant of the shawarma sandwich

New Yorkers are the toughest mofos on the planet until you ask them to put trash in a can wow
“I’ll be honest: This garbage thing really stresses me out, man.” New York City rules now require more buildings to place trash bags inside containers for pickup. Many residents are thrilled to see fewer rats, but some are discovering new headaches.

In case anyone wonders how the U.S. came to be fighting the Houthis without congressional authorization, reposting our @crisisgroup.org report from earlier this year.

Bending the Guardrails: U.S. War Powers after 7 October | Crisis Group
Amid the Gaza war, the Biden administration has resorted to military force without asking Congress, further corroding the U.S. constitution’s checks and balances in this domain. Job one is a ceasefire but war powers reform is a vital task for the future.

Palestine is the axis around which the Western moral universe turns

The Omelas child cries out
Sometimes I think about how the Gaza genocide is probably the most significant factor in preventing another left/liberal anti-Trump popular front from forming.

Then I remember that Israel/Palestine was the issue that tore the Women’s March apart.

I wrote a piece about Saudi Arabia's possible role in preventing a wider regional escalation. Am I confident that this will happen? No. But Saudi Arabia is perhaps best placed to act.
