Rosie’s love affair with the blanket continues…

I know they say squirrels thrive in Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens, but this is ridiculous.

Cat in a bag.

What a treat to see my friend @amyfuller.bsky.social at the launch of the major new BBC Arts documentary series, 'Civilisations: Rise and Fall', which is coming to BBC2 later this month. It's all still thoroughly embargoed, but apparently we're now allowed to officially admit that we're in it!

Spot the cat.

Rosie is still obsessed with the blanket…

Not quite as sneaky as she thinks…

Rosie has discovered the new blanket.

You get a lot of odd requests as a public historian, but this (from a Venezuelan teacher) is definitely one of the weirdest I’ve had.

God bless The Church Times for their ongoing insistence on responding moderately but forcefully to the Reverend Canon Nigel Biggar’s nonsense. www.churchtimes.co.uk/articles/202...

Delia is, of course, incomparable. But how the hell did she think this was going to make two layers of cake?!

Flat out.

LinkedIn has determined (without consulting me) that the middle of our voluntary-severance round is the best time to announce that I’ve ‘completed’ 15 years at Sheffield (as if it’s a sentence). So now people I don’t know are congratulating me. *makes mental note to delete LinkedIn* *again*

Amused not only by this pointless, nothing-nonsense clickbait, but also by the little 'please be nice to each other in the comments' note at the bottom. It's almost as if the Telegraph understands that, in reality, you don't always want to unexpectedly confront uncomfortable ideas.. archive.ph/huVYk

Given that this is the view from my chin, I think Rosie is glad that we’re home (despite her customary daylight-hours hostility).

A gobsmacking amount of stolen Indian treasures in the stunning Ancient India exhibit at the British Museum. Many have a caption saying effectively ‘stolen by the East India Company and transferred to the BM when their museum closed down’. And yet they feature this quote without irony…

Belated holiday whinge: I appreciate a faux barricade as much as the next historian, but it rather takes the shine off when pseudo-historical filming means you can’t visit half of actual-historic Bordeaux…

The French are too fancy for Febreeze.

On Savage Shores spotted in the wild in Bordeaux! Available in French now (and has been for a while obv, but still exciting). www.albin-michel.fr/leurope-ce-c...

Well, at least Rosie is enjoying the fallout from the office-move chaos.
