Opinions my own.
You can’t make this shit up. Naming a building after yourself in the name of peace you have never embodied, forged, or effectively impacted in a program you unlawfully defunded and dismantled (and are currently pending Congressional legal actions after being sued for unconstitutionality) is bonkers.

I’m in a red state at a teaching social action institute and I have to say, the faculty around me are having some very familiar conversations that I had when living in GA. I can’t express enough how grateful I am that these are not the same realities I have to face to the same extent anymore.

There were 2 mass shootings at unhoused encampments in Minnesota on homelessness activist Hamoudi Sabri’s property. This happened not long after Fox News host Brian Kilmeade recently encouraged of “involuntary lethal injection” for homeless individuals around the country, stating: “Just kill ‘em.”

While a lot of people are having long discourses about condemning violence despite whether they agree with a person, I just want to remind us to condemn genocide. Perhaps we can all agree on that.

As a researcher who centers gun violence in their work, I’m never surprised when the public conversation about violence involves humanizing its impact seems to only happen when a conservative figure is the victim. When it’s kids, Black, immigrant, or trans* folx the narrative is somewhat different.

Autocrats use propagandized pop culture to sell their monstrous acts of abuse. But it doesn't help if you missed the point of the movie used as a power pump & point to the fact that this is about the horrors of American imperialism & the unraveling of morality. The Autocrat is a moron and a monster.
The president of the United States just declared war, actual military war, not a metaphorical one, on a major American city, and one governed by his political opponents.

In any other period, this would be impeachment-worthy.

More terrorizing of people by federal officials, willing to lie to cover their asses despite video evidence showing the opposite of what they claim. Gestapo tactics are the new norm.
Masked men jumped a San Bernardino family in unmarked cars, opened fire, and shattered their truck windows—all while the family was just coming home from work.

The feds later admitted it was CBP, but the family says the agents never showed warrants or IDs.
