In my purple corner in the red state of Kansas, almost every local race favored the Johnson County Democratic Party-endorsed candidates and issues. Local elections do matter!

Posting the full radio address by President Reagan that is at the center of the controversy between the Canadian commercial and the current administration's tariffs. After watching it, it's clear where Reagan stood on tariffs, but see for yourself.

Personal theory: We live in a divided, polarized world because people have become uncomfortable hearing anything that upsets what they need to believe to feel good about themselves. We've lost the ability to be shaped by learning things that challenge our worldview. And that will be our downfall.

It's soooo difficult to stay positive these days, but nothing lifts my spirits more than FaceTime laughter with my dear daughter and granddaughter. They are my "why" in terms of keeping the faith and the fight.

Would you rather have a milder case of Covid or be hospitalized or even dead? Sure, let’s stop life-saving research on mRNA vaccines. Oh, and let’s also forget the promise that research was having in treating cancer.

The children of Melissa and Mark Hortman prove it is possible to do good in the face of evil. My heart breaks for them and I am deeply touched by their grace. Let's commit to acts of service in their honor.
Please read and share this statement from Sophie and Colin Hortman, children of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark.

I’m shocked and embarrassed by the treatment of President Zelensky in the White House today. This does not represent the majority of Americans. #standwithukraine

This morning there's a heaviness on my heart. I've been dreading today, but I didn't realize I would be so sad. Praying for our nation and leaders, but mostly for those who today will face fear, feel marginalized, unloved. Heading out to spend the day serving in the community. Love wins, right? #MLK

I’m seeing posts about boycotting the inauguration. I plan to avoid media that day as well but have another plan. It will also be the day we commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. How about making it a day of community service? Find a way to give back in your community!

In the not so distant past, the outrage was over lunch counters, bus seats and drinking fountains. It seems we've moved on to restrooms, locker rooms and team sports. Just sad new expressions of dehumanizing behavior. Lord, have mercy.

My plan for the next 4 years is to keep my head in the game and do as much good as I can. Guess I’m hoping for a grassroots “do good”movement. We need to take care of each other!
