We can use relational organizing and regular phonebanking of potential DSA members to do recruitment at scale, and refine our organizing tactics to meet our goal of 100,000 DSA members by the end of the year. 5/6

We can merge the socialist movement and the labor movement by fighting alongside organized workers and unifying our party behind a short set of widely- and deeply-felt issues, such as those proposed in the Carnation Program. 4/6

DSA has a real claim to being the most democratic mass organization in the United States. DSA members all across the country elected over 1200 delegates for our upcoming Convention. Our organization has the energy it takes to run winning campaigns and build power. 3/6

If you believe in the power of a minimal program, rank Abdullah #1 at Convention in August, and reach out to us to set up a chat: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

Abdullah organized his workplace with the UAW and helped lead a rent control campaign in Pasadena. He helped to start the Labor for an Arms Embargo campaign, which is working alongside PYM and PI to organize local unions around the demand of an arms embargo.

We’ve seen the power of organizing around a program like this with the Zohran campaign in NYC, which has brought thousands of people into organizing to elect a mayor who has pledged to arrest Netanyahu.
July 11, 2025 at 5:43 PM
To build our party into this force, Abdullah wants DSA to focus on the winnable majoritarian issues that affect people’s lives on a daily basis: M4A, Bring Down the Cost of Living, End Political Corruption, Unions for All, and End US Militarism.

These local bases of politically-activated organized workers along with their DSA chapters can launch runs for Congress in 2028 to build the power we need at the federal level to end U.S. support for Israel’s apartheid and genocide and to fight climate change.

Community campaigns around cost-of-living issues can improve the lives of union members while developing organizers’ skills and building a base that supports contract campaigns and new organizing drives.
June 25, 2025 at 5:34 PM
By organizing along coworkers and union members on the basis of a minimal program, DSA can shift the conditions in which unions negotiate their contracts and win more workers to socialism.

Unions engage in political action all the time, but must consider members’ interests.

The day before that victory, the shipping logistics company Maersk announced that it was cutting ties to illegal Israeli settlements. We can organize to express the power of the pro-peace and pro-Palestine majority.

The Zohran campaign shows that championing winnable day-to-day demands that have a consensus among the socialist movement can unlock massive energy and enthusiasm that can organize the working class.

This program is not a resolution for the 2025 DSA Convention, nor is it a caucus project. Our goal is to build towards majority support for the program for our next NPC, across tendencies. To read the full program and stay in touch, click here: t.co/AbU87FMSRR

In the '80s, former United Farm Worker organizers launched the Neighbor to Neighbor campaign, a coordinated effort to support candidates who would vote against military aid to the Contras in Nicaragua. This led to a 219-211 vote to cut off military aid. t.co/J41jA5yEQC

Building a bloc in Congress to force political change is not only critical, but possible. We can win an arms embargo against Israel.

Leading to the 2026 elections, local chapters would select one of these five priority campaigns and receive assistance to run these campaigns. DSA will build voter lists and construct fundraising apparatuses while developing DSA member-leaders who could run for Congress in 2028.

How do we translate local organizing into federal power? We propose cohering local campaigns around a five-point program: Medicare for All, bringing down the cost of living, unions for all, ending political corruption, and ending endless wars.

On the 51st anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, we remember a revolution that ended Portuguese imperialism and defeated authoritarianism at home. The US continues facilitating genocide in Gaza, eroding our civil liberties as union members are abducted for political speech.
