Penn Law Dean Sophia Lee also informed the law school commu. nicy that the Office of Equal Oppor tunity and uneasement woul close at the end of the summer. Penn's approach stands in con inst to that o! Georketown Univel sity Law Center when faced with a similar situation. In February Georgetown Law Dean William M. Treanor received a letter from the interim D.C. U.S. Altorney Ed Martin, demanding that the scbool no lonserteach of promoe Del If Georgetown Law did not comply. Martin threatened that the would not be considered for legal positions with the U.S. Altorney's Office. Treanor rejected the threats and political pressure. Treanor's reply, specifically noted that Martin's letter violated the school's academic freedom. First Amendment rights, and guiding principles of Georgetown University as a Jesuit and Catholic institution to support diversity and It does not require much analy-sis, legal or otherwise, to discern the stark and unfortunate distinc tion between Georgetown Law's response to a direct threat and Penn Law's response to political pressure from the current administration to end all programs or activities that may remotely be considered DEI initiatives. More than any other corner of higher education, law schools should reject any attempt to compromise academic freedom and the important social values emanating from our nation's historic struggles. To do otherwise and capitulate is pernicious to our nation's progress. I am surprised Halligan isn’t younger. This script reads as very undergraduate to me. The way that people who encounter information or narratives they dislike ascribing “bias”

Granted the real world seems much less invested in positive outcomes than you’d think but I’m guessing employers will eventually bristle at the fake math, fake citations, sloppy garbage that these tools routinely provide and that AI-trained students won’t be able to discern or fix

Wow what an accidentally incisive observation from Manchin, in the NYT review of his memoir
• Like any seasoned politician, he makes pointed use of the words "humble" and "humility."
